Due to the large number of celebrities living in Los Angeles and the short life of many celebrity relationships, it is not surprising when news surfaces that another high-profile couple is choosing to go separate ways. There are some couples, however, who decide on divorce after spending significant time together, which can mean a more complicated process of separation.
Although their daughters usually enjoy more fame, Joe and Tina Simpson, the parents of Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, are experiencing their share of their limelight after announcing their divorce. The Simpsons have been married for 35 years, but sources report that no one else is involved in the separation and the couple remains friendly. Not long after the announcement, Tina was seen having lunch with friends and Joe was playing golf. As a result of the announcement, the Simpsons' home in Encino is being sold with a price tag of $4.3 million.
When high-profile couples divorce in Los Angeles, there are often significant amounts of money and real estate involved that result in a complex asset division. Even when relationships remain amicable, disagreements can easily arise over issues of property, the family home, bank accounts, and spousal support, among many other issues. Due to the amount and sources of wealth involved in high-asset divorces, reaching a mutually beneficial divorce settlement often involves careful planning, analysis, and negotiation.
Divorce is a fact of life and there are many reasons couples in Los Angeles County choose to separate. When in the midst of a high-asset divorce, it is helpful to address the issues directly and search for a meaningful agreement through open communication and negotiation.
